You're right about the cash (especially after umc is unloaded) But I you're still comparing siii against the graphics, KenP indicates the future of siii is somewhere else. In fact, I suspect many players in graphics already realize that graphics alone is not enough to sustain them ::
- NVDA is back into integrating audio+graphics.
- ATYT has been making waves in settops and appliances.
- TDFX... You might be right about them.
- SIII has the rio and the future is comm and networking.

BTW, how does one know the cash position in matrox? They're privately held, and guard their financials very carefully. But you're probably right, since it's hard to find their cards nowadays.

JMHO.

Compare cash of Nvidia, ATI, TDFX, Matrox vs S3, and you find that S3 has the BIGGEST cash balance.
