Nexabit Rejected Bids From Several Top Phone-Equipment Makers
The New York Times reported earlier today that No. 1 phone equipment maker Lucent Technologies Inc. was close to acquiring Nexabit for $600 million to $800 million. Nexabit's product is being evaluated in the networks of Frontier Corp., the No. 5 U.S. long-distance provider, Road Runner, the No. 2 supplier of high-speed Internet access over cable lines, and four other telecommunication service providers Chatter declined to name.
