Re "Disperation"

Yup! The Q is now supplying WCDMA MSMs that enable WCDMA handsets to be sold at "significantly" under $200/ unit. Now the MSM6245. The incumbents were making Good money at $400+ WCMDA handsets, will life be so good at $200 and below with the Q's elegant integrated solutions?

If this complaint had been filed in November 2002, I feel fairly confident that you would have said it was "desperation" due to the announcement of the MSM6250.

If it had been filed in May 2004, I think you would have been talking about "desperation" in the face of the MSM7xxx series.

If it had been announced next year, I am sure there would have been a new chipset that you would have pointed to as the reason.

I think most people expected Qualcomm to eventually get accused of abuse of monopoly power. It is simply the price of being a Gorilla. Nobody liked IBM in the 80's, MSFT in the 90's and they dont like Qualcomm now....I doubt the timing for the suit is due to desperation.
