Sonny-I am familiar to the Wash Rule as it applies to losses. Just to clarify, I have realized losses in COMS and WDC, and have not/will not repurchase in the time frame affected by wash sales. I want to sell some holdings that I have deep profits in (eg INTC), apply my COMS/WDC losses to avoid 1997 taxes, then repurchase INTC at current market price, increasing my basis to reduce future taxes. Not sure I made that clear in my original post. I emailed my CPA daughter, so I hope she can get me an answer, although she is not a tax accountant. MRK is saving my portfolio today. What are your current thoughts on APM? Are you still in? billwot
