Rick, the Gemplus smart card system is going to use Internet-related POS devices. That has implications for biometrics and IDX, since the present IDT fingerscanning architecture with Compaq relies on the same, or a similar, system. The CPQ/IDT device maintains the reference template on the server . . . and I suspect that the same would be true with a GEMPLUS biometric smart card. That means that IDT technology is already largely compatible with the new GEMPLUS approach.

This is good news.
