Intel Mobile Tualatins to launch 30 July

Monday, 30 July marks the official launch of Intel's 0.13 micron Tualatin Mobile Pentium III processors, according to the latest pricing information to leak out of the chip giant and as we've mentioned before.
On that day, Intel will unveil 866MHz, 933MHz, 1.0GHz, 1.06GHz and 1.13GHz Mobile PIIIs priced at $251, $284, $401, $508 and $637, respectively, Web site Xbit Labs has reported.
A month and a half later, on 16 September, Intel will juggle its mobile prices again, to cut the Tualatin parts' prices and make them more attractive to buyers than older, 0.18 micron Coppermine processors. So, the 1.13GHz PIII will fall to $508, a cut of 20 per cent, and the 1.06GHz part will fall to $401 (down 21 per cent). The 1.0GHz Tualatin will fall to $294 (down 27 per cent), but the 1.0GHz Coppermine will fall from $401 to $321, a cut of 20 per cent. The 933MHz Tualatin and the 900MHz Coppermine will both end up at $241. The 866MHz Tualatin, 850MHz Coppermine and 800MHz Coppermine will all be priced at $198 on 16 September.
On the same day, current Mobile Celeron chips' prices will fall too. The 850MHz part will drop from $134 to $107 (down 20 per cent). the 800MHz Celeron from $107 to $91 (down 15 per cent), the 750MHz chip from $91 to $75 (down18 per cent), the same price at the 700MHz version.
Sometime soon after 16 September, Intel will launch Tualatin-based Mobile Celerons at 900, 866, 800 and 733MHz, priced at $134, $107, $91 and $75, respectively, again to favour the 0.13 micron parts over their older 0.18 micron siblings.
In a similar timeframe (we expect), Intel will launch a 1.2GHz 0.13 micron Mobile PIII at $722. ® |
