I wouldn't go SCSI unless I was using it for something else too. This thread, and Dream Machine have quite a few questions about SCSI, but not recently. The whole issue seems needlessly complex.

Check some of the CD burner posts on this thread. They link to evaluation in computer magazines. These articles explain what the different software does, and rates it for various purposes. They will also give you some ideas about what you'll be getting for your money.
