Lee, you do raise a valid point as $3.00/min is pretty hefty even by
American standards let alone India which is still a developing country and not quite as wealthy as the developed Western countries. But consider this, there some 30-40 million people in India whose annual income is over $30,000.00 per year, but initially this service could only attract the very wealthy Indian businessmen who are constantly on the move and can not rely on the regular cellular phones for their needs. But you are correct in that it couldn't possibly attract many regular subscribers even in the West, but India is one of the countries who is an investor in the Iridium project, but we would have to wait and see what develops once the service is implemented and how it is received by not only Indians but the rest of the world.
