Writing in NRO (link below), John Berlau outlines the connection between leftists’ enviro policies and Katrina’s aftermath, along with the paradoxes of hypocrisy in which leftists tend to get mired.

Indeed, just as “rent control” leads to higher rents, and “affirmative action” leads to less successful participations by racial minorities, and higher minimum wages leads to lower employment, the fundamental problem with modern-day “environmentalism” is that it substitutes emotion and wishful thinking for common sense. And it typically entails a knee-jerk desire to affect perceived maladies of the present day without any consideration of the probable deleterious effects of those endeavors in the future.

Just ask those former homeowners in NOLA about the unintended (but foreseeable) consequences of leftism as environmental policy.

Or the millions of people around the world – especially in poor countries – who’ve died from malaria since DDT was banned . . .
