When Kerry was a sailor boy
A swift boat was his pride and joy.
And though at heart he hated war
He hated Commies even more.
And so he fought the Viet Cong
Because he knew that they were wrong.
Three purple hearts he won out there
For scratches, nicks and ingrown hair
A silver star, a bronze one, too.
He was a hero through and through.
B ut four months was enough for him
(Combat at times is mighty grim)
When he had given all he had
He decided that war is bad
So he came home to fight for peace,
But still the fighting would not cease
So he threw his medals away
(But were they his? He does not say.)
Then told congress a pack of lies
Of crimes committed by GIs.
Made common cause with Fonda, Jane.
And said the war was all in vain.
But that was then and this is now
And times have changed, Oh Boy! And how!
Today john Kerry’s sole intent
Is to be our next president.
And so he tells us it was he
Who stood and fought the enemy,
Helped bring the Cong down to their knees.
And this is naught at which to sneeze.
Now for defending this, our land,
He thinks that we should understand
Only he can bring salvation
In these dread times to our nation.
And that because he ran a boat
He now is worthy of our vote.
