From the Prez. Bush Board:

At least the word 'Resignation' is now uttered publicly

Kofi Annan should resign. His tenure as Secretary General has been a continual parade of corruption and mismanagement, with the UN's field activities running amok, clearly lacking anything resembling adult leadership from Turtle Bay.

Well, at least the word 'resignation' is now passing the lips of the glitterati circulating in the warrens of the UN. Unfortunately, it's to mouth perfunctory platitudes of the most dangerous man in a position with authority, and say he doesn't need to.

For now.

Over 21 Billion US plundered due to his coddling of a madman. UN field agencies in several locations heavily involved in running prostitution and sexcapades operations, some involving children. Not to mention his previous direct involvement and actions that contributed immensely to the wholesale massacres of Rwanda.

Some in Congress have suggested penalizing the UN by witholding about 10% of US funding until things are 'straightened out'. Insufficient.

If we really want to get their attention, we should be talking about witholding ALL US contributions (about 20% of the overall UN budget). Or holding the contribution back, and only funding positive activities of the organization, such as our portion of the bill for election monitoring in Iraq.

The rationale is there - why give taxpayer dollars over to people that are simply going to use it to line their pockets, while simultaneously, on a daily basis, actively trying to stymie initiatives, just because they are favored by the US. Particularly when that opposition results in misery and mayhem in various corners of the globe?

Money talks. Time to make it shout. Cut the kleptocrats off. At least until they fire Kofi.

Oh, wait, they can't 'fire' him per se. And there's part of the problem. And anyone that looks to this organization in terms of describing it as a 'world government' is a foolish naif to think of it realistically as such, so long as it is completely and utterly devoid of any sort of accountability, and lacks the mechanisms to hold responsible those that flagrantly abuse their positions.
