If you have a network of embedded devices, what better way is there
to admin them than a Browser. You have some code that does SNMP(II)
and/or CMAP at the control terminal to get and set device parameters
and display them in HTML. This COULD be a PC or NC, but it could also
be a hand-held device that a technician carries around, or a display
panel/keypad in a smart house. There is also the STB/DTV application
of Browsers. If you can do time cards and expense reports in HTML, why
can't you program your VCR?

I have to agree with your point about the size of a
Browser - this is one of Bill Gates agruments about NCs not
really being "thin". But, as I'm sure you are aware, "memory is
getting cheap". I've heard that for 20 years. The only problem is, if
my product uses less memory than yours, whatever the cost, mine will
cost less to produce, resulting in either better margins or lower
selling prices for me. As product catagories mature, and competition
increases, the amount of memory needed by a product always matters.
