The same could be said for defenders of teachers unions. Never admitting that the inability of the system to reward good performance or to punish unacceptable performance is a factor.

But I do agree that most of the education systems failure to deliver comes from outside of the school. The reasons being rather complex. Schools certainly had better results when there were two parents living in the house. Both my parents worked, they provided a permissive environment but set good examples for the most part.
