Actually, from a French, secular-minded viewpoint, the US is a theocracy as well!! Since the US executive routinely refers to 'God' regardless of the fact that not all US citizens believe in God (in his Christian meaning).>>>>

Gustave no one is here to argue that US style democracy is not compatible with not only Islamic World but with great majority of the World in general....However, discussion was centuried on the concept of poor Islamic World (Chechnia, Kashmire and Kosovo offered as an example---Algeria would fit this too, as opposed by say Kuwait or even Turkey as example of rich or not poor in the case of latter...

Now Separation of Church and State does indeed offend some theocrats in USA, however it does not have profound (and even superficial) consequences for the population at large that is extraordinary busy in pursuing American Dream....and that Dream is Money..not God or control of their heretic neighboor
