Gregor, all that is really on my mind is this unbearable, horrendous suffering going on of so many people that it is getting hard to comprehend it.
These are mostly farm families and small business men. There is NOT A WELFARE SYSTEM IN THESE COUNTRIES. YOU WORK OR DIE!
To be ripped from your nice little house with all of your prized possessions, surrounded by tons of animals, many of which are purely pets, and to have nothing, no food, nothing, this is reminescent of the horrors of the Indian removal and most certainly the Jews, except the Jews only lost little crowded apartments for the most part in crowded little urban areas. Their suffering and loss was still monstrous, just from their possessions and loss of creature comforts in urban apartments, but there is no suffering like losing LAND, and everything that sets on it.
Men and women can grieve over favorite plants and trees, even, let alone animals and purchased possessions.
Now it looks like they are going to lie on the ground in fields until they die on TV.
I just cannot hardly comprehend what this extent of misery really means. I know also that any money sent there will get there at about .05 on the dollar. That if we all hopped into private planes and went there in a frantic Christian missionary frenzy, the paperwork alone would keep everyone out.
Perhaps it is because this is the first mass horror of hundreds of thousands which we can so totally relate to--their lives are not a lot different from our own, and I notice we all now dress almost exactly alike.
Gregor, I don't even know who to call. When I call a local politician, of course I get a record or a girl answering a phone.
Do our thoughts even count anywhere? Is it in fact the situation at this point in time that simply saying there is nothing we can do to stop it is about the truth? Do we pray more than ever then?
Remember that there but for the Grace of God, go I. Food for thought. Lots and lots more people all over seem to be going...
Does anyone know of any direct Christian group we can truly trust to use donations with honor and honesty? For the life of me I can't see just sending money so a bunch of Christians can pay for passages around the world and then have funds to keep themselves going while there, after giving much of that donation to the parent organization.
That kind of leaves me without any great generous urges. But do you know of direct mission groups proven to not be in it for the money?
CBN of course. But they aren't there yet, and I'll bet they aren't going to be let in either.
