With all due respect to the surviving friends and relatives of the deceased, maybe we should all just move on and discuss what this could mean - if anything - for the future of SUF operations in the area.

How unique this tragic event is? Is it an indicator of further troubles?

After watching a CBC TV documentary (year ago or more) on another company looking for diamonds (somewhere in the region), it seemed commonplace that such things take place. This company had hired a mercenary group called Executive Outcomes to help guard operations & staff against rebels/bandits etc.

I am far from being uptodate on the politics of Angola. Is there anyone who can give a short summary of rebel(?) activity in the area of SUF Angolan operations/holdings?
SUF price sinking, mainly due to what:

1. Some kind of market manipulation to get the price down for a cheaper takeover by DB?

2. Overreaction to the potential dividing of Marf resource?

3. Uncertainty over the implications of security of Angola production due to this tragic event?

4. Combination of 2 & 3?

5. Other?
