It was quite a story. The couple in question were separated, and the divorce was about to become final. The husband was by now involved with someone else, and so was the wife. Wife's boyfriend didn't have much money, and seems to have felt that her alimony of about $14K a month was insufficient. She agreed. So they set out to find a hit man. The lawyer who'd represented her in her divorce obliged with the name of someone who "knew somebody". By this time six or seven people were involved. Wife thought it would be best to off Husband at his vacation home in Menton, just over the French border, hoping that that would create some confusion. So Hit Man goes down there, rents a car (bright) and stakes out Husband's house. Somebody comes out, Hit Man shoots him. Only it was the wrong person. Tough.
