Greg-I installed stainless braided hoses on my last 914. Don't know if they were DOT approved. I got them from Automobile Atlanta in Marietta, Georgia. They are a Porsche specialist, but I'm sure would refer you to their source. They were always very helpful over the phone with tech questions. The phone # is (770) 427 2844. I sold the 914 when I bought my first MR2 in '93, so I have not been in contact with them for several years. billwot
