Sonki- Re: INTC, OTOT-? of other stks in port.
Just got home from Big Apple where we spent day with 23 yr. old son, and received your E-Mail. We have a more diversified portfolio than techs, altho now 45% retirement in it, due to recent purchases. Bought some more Peco Energy in Spring, held for yrs. for nice dividend, watched as it went way down due to panic over competition/stranded costs hype, is up 20% in 4 months, believe Interest rates, M&A-Sam Zell buyouts have made Reits, strong Utilites (OGE) continuing good long-term investments, with nice income flows. ARI,LTC,HRP,JAMS have all good funds from operations (FFO) which means the payouts--i.e. dividends-are sweet. Reits had good years, analysts ?ed how they could continue, but they missed high employment/low inflation scenario we've been living under. But we've had to hold some stks such as Glaxo a long time to finally make a profit. Most retiremnt investments are long term, except where a few nice climbs allowed a 6-8month sale, since no tax ramifications. Recently sold Quaker Oats after great run-up, but had held for 3 yrs. Dividends were paid in the interim. Still see MSFT, INTC as great long term, with nice '98 moves. New hopefuls are AMAT, BAY, & NXTL.
Will try to reach you.
Kind Regards, Royco |
