where am i going to go? mexico? if we had a depression here in the US and george w bush encouraged millions of americans to invade mexico looking for work, demanding free social services, demanding mexico translate everything into english, etc vicente fox would mobilize the mexican army. but when pres vicente fox encourages millions of mexicans to conduct an invasion of our country and patriotic americans stand up to protest, we are branded racist, nativist, and xenophobic for simply expecting mexico to repsect the sovereignty of our laws and borders!
what the hell is our country turning into? a polyglot boarding house for the world? we need to apologize for not opening our arms to embrace foreign invaders who have no intention of respecting our laws? how can illegals ever become good americans when the very fact of them being here demonstrates their disrespect for the sovereign laws of our nation? you know the sad part? we can't really blame the mexicans for trying. they are still sore at the fact that we swiped the southwest from them a while back. they are seeking a "la reconquista" to take it back just the way the americans took texas -- by migrating, settling and then seceding.
it's the filthy liberal politicians and greedy corporations who want to exploit mexicans for their own selfish needs. they are the racist exploiters, not people like myself who don't wish to see mexicans exploited.

you're absolutely correct. the west is committing suicide and has no one to blame but itself. we don't need any help from bin laden. abraham lincoln said it best:

yes, people have so much faith in the old greenback. people around the world cannot get enough dollars. funny, that's what it was like in roman times. people all around the world had faith in the roman currency. the power and faith in roman currency was even alluded to in the bible in luke chapter 20.

i think you are absolutely right. i think it is inevitable for all empires to decline. i think at the height of empire people start living too well, and they become bored and restless. with all this extra time on their hands they seek to fill the void with material pleasures, wanton sexual gratification, and cultural decadence. as they succumb more and more to their selfish desires, they turn away from their faith and morals, which obviously serve as the restraints to self-indulgence.
even though we associate depressions with terrible times, i actually think depressions and recessions serve a useful purpose. they force people to return to the simple yet most gratifying pleasures in life -- faith, family and country, and away from materialistic self-indulgences that always seem to be associated with an economic boom.
i think this country is in for a long slump, just like japan, and i hope it forces america to rethink what made this country so great. GDP has nothing to do with how great our country is. some of our country's best moments occurred when we struggled economically, like right towards the end of the great depression when we helped to rid the world of fascism. |
