On the same day that Amazon goes up 9% to reach a market cap of 20 billion, my poor Borders gets whupped down 15% to a market cap of 1.3 billion because they missed earnings by a few pennies. Jeez! Hey Amazon, why don't you pick up Borders for an even 2 dollar bill? A mere 10% dilution. But the deal would be accretive to earnings, revenues, cash flow, etc. If Prince Bezos knows his Italian politics, as I'm sure he does, he knows that the best strategy when jostling around with #2 Prince Riggio is to befriend the #3 prince. Makes sense to me.
