I always told my friends (and myself) if they don't have the right emotional make-up, they should stay away from the stock market, especially the high tech market.

And consider this metaphor: a man walking a dog. The dog runs all over the place--seemingly more backwards than forward--and completely obscures the view of the man who steadily moves in one direction.

Moral: let's focus on the man, not the dog.
