Dan, you want to know how they can price a Pentium 4 system so low? look at the specs on that system. You can get the same things for a Celeron 800MHz based system for $475 at Best Buy. bestbuy.com Now, add $30 for RDRAM over SDRAM, $50 for the difference in motherboard costs, $100 for the difference in processor costs ($70 for Celeron and $170 for Pentium 4), and $25 for the other modifications such as power supply and case, and you'll arrive at the price you are quoting, with $20 left over to account for margins. $475 + $30 + $50 + $100 + $25 + $20 = $700 I'm sure you can argue to your heart's content about these arbitrary price points, but they aren't any more arbitrary than your numbers. Besides, you are only bringing up one vendor that no one else has heard of. All the big name brands are still charging over $1000 for their Pentium 4 systems, and that's only going to come down to $800 once prices have been cut down to $130 and i845 gets bundled. wanna_bmw
