The eight hardline conservatives who voted to get rid of McCarthy as speaker are pretty stupid if they think nominating a more conservative speake is going to get their agenda passed. Last I looked, the Senate and Executive office were controlled by Democrats, most of whom are liberal and are not going to be influenced by a more conservative speaker. If these hardliners think shutting down the government will be beneficial to their agenda in an election year, I think the hardliners need a dose of truth serum of what the American people will think of such actions.
