If you have the government pay for them, or just subsidize their insurance like in the "reform" plans, than they get it at our expense as well.

The issue was supposedly how we need a big government plan because of the suffering of all these uninsured people. The point is that some of them are not Americans (and while I don't want non-Americans to suffer either, others suffer a lot more, we can't support the world), and many of them are not suffering more than anyone else. Some are effectively already insured (eligible for government programs or rich enough to self insure), others are only non insured because all the government meddling drives up their costs to levels that make insurance a bad bet for them.
