After viewing the site for a bit, I called Furniture.com. The guy was pleasant, told me that they carried many manufacturers, no "big names", but good quality stuff.
He told me that I should browse or search the site for the type of furniture I was looking for, to feel free to call for clarification or further info.
I too am someone who wants to feel and look at furniture. I have been to North Carolina and know there is a lot more to furniture than the "big names", though. I have saved I feel a fair amount of money by going there.
The real kicker, which makes me intrigued with Furniture.com was that they deliver the furniture to you, you have 7 days to decide if you like it or not, and if not, they pick it back up FOR FREE! Now, I was not in my "hunt down all the facts" mode, so I didn't ask if they gave you a refund or merely a credit if you disliked the furniture, but I am interested enough to check out the site again.
He further told me that they have no catalog, and that Furniture.com was a brick and mortar place called Empire (?) Furniture up East somewhere (I forget), and that F.com was two years old.
If anyone can fill in how CMGI and they got together it would be and interesting read.
BTW - and take it for what I paid for it - the guy also said that the many manufacturers that they are dealing with have been overwhelmed by the business F.com is sending their way.
