Gun owners are less dangerous. In the right hands a gun might increase your safety.

Spiderman? GI Joe? Who is so perfect that they could never shoot someone by mistake, or in the heat of passion?

The percentage of gun owners who shoot someone by accident or in a fit of passionate anger is very tiny.

One of my links states that the people who were saved by a gun in 2000 is minuscle.

Your link says nothing of the sort. It says that a relatively small number of justifiable homicides are committed by privately owned firearms. It doesn't even look at the many cases of defensive use of guns where there is no homicide.

There is no good guy keeping us out of harm's way with his gun.

"There are approximately two million defensive gun uses (DGU's) per year by law abiding citizens. That was one
of the findings in a national survey conducted by Gary Kleck, a Florida State University criminologist in 1993.
Prior to Dr. Kleck's survey, thirteen other surveys indicated a range of between 800,000 to 2.5 million DGU's
annually. However these surveys each had their flaws which prompted Dr. Kleck to conduct his own study
specifically tailored to estimate the number of DGU's annually.

Subsequent to Kleck's study, the Department of Justice sponsored a survey in 1994 titled, the National Survey of
Private Ownership of Firearms. Using a smaller sample size than Kleck's, this survey estimated 1.5 million DGU's annually. "

The gun manu. are willing but the NRA is not... I know, I know......it makes
shooting a gun more difficult, and we would never want to inconvenience someone.

When an armed criminal is threatening you such an inconvenience can cost you your life. The gun manufactures get there money either way, maybe they get a bit extra for adding the lock. They have no reason to fight any restriction that does not prohibit or severely limit sales, but the NRA wants to protect the lives and rights of gun owners so it does care.

This country was founded by Europeans........our culture is predominately a European derivative culture. Most of my comparison were to European countries.

You didn't just object to includeing Japan you objected the way the figures included suicides in all of the countries. Several of the European countries had higher suicide rates then the US.

And you ignore that the inverse may be true. We've tried it your way and nearly 30,000 people die each year; now lets try it my way.

I don't want to toss out constitutional rights and make millions of law abiding citizens defenseless in order to satisfy your need to experiment.

What part of this scenario is a mystery to you? Its not an issue of
disagreement; its an issue of life or death

Between you and me (or you and the NRA) it is an issue of disagreement. But your right it is an issue of life or death that we disagree about and trying to impliment your proposals would result in more death.

Your reply just supports my statement about you treating anyone who disagrees with you (at least on this and a few other issues) as horrible and deserving of violent supression.
