SUF has pretty well cut their own throat with regards to the M1 issue.
They are in fact their own worst enemy.
Which company in the world would attempt to discredit the Goverment to which they intend doing business with? Chris Jennings has made it abundantly clear that he believes the Minister is a puppet, under control by the ' old guard '
in SA. He also infers that he is not capable, and worst, that his knowledge of the law, and the application thereof is lacking. What is really distasteful, is his attempt to drum up support through his shareholders, to apply pressure via Canada,s diplomatic corps and force the SA goverment to kowtow to SUF.s demands. I am quite sure that the Minister has been insulted, and it would be in SUF,s best interest to work on this relationship, if they wish to do any further business in SA.

I have the utmost respect for the Minister, and I am sure that his ruling on the M1 issue will be in the best interests of South Africa.

Your opinions are contradictory and reflect the changing and frantic moods of the company you represent.

Your recent postings a few days back, show the thoughts of a balanced and well educated person. Your opinion now suggest that you are either a SUF shill, or worse, an individual incapable of formulating his own thoughts. On May the 29th you said " In my experience, the last thing a politician or goverment wants to be seen or be perceived to be doing, is favouring, or being pressured by any entity, especially a foreign company." I thought that this made for much sense, but it appears that you have done a 360 on this one.

You also state and I quote " The posted references to possible corruption are troubling and I would again caution that nothing good can come of them. " I agree, however it is evident that you do not follow your own advise. You have gone over the edge with this white supremist conspiracy theory, typical of foreigners thinking that all of Africa is one big banana. I now must once more assume that you are either a shill, or confused as to what your actual beliefs are. Please explain this obvious contradiction. You have to date been lucid in your posting but of late have adopted a different personality.

Gull has never slanged off at Canadians like the other participants do at South Africans. South Africa ( for you that have not been there) comprises many different ethnic groups, Indians, Black, Coloureds, Whites, Chinese etc and for you guys to try and make this a racial issue is quite disturbing considering how the indigenous people of Canada have been treated. I have lived in both countries and I am quite aware of the racial attitudes many Canadians harbour towards their own countrymen, so you can forget about that line of attack. I have mentioned in my previous postings that one should not venture into areas that you may not be totally comfortable with, and I repeat this.

Canada has rich resources, as other counties do, but it needs money and expertise to develop them. De Beers and other multinationals have this, and it would be naive to think that they are not important to development in countries like SA or Canada.

The M1 issue is strictly a business one and nothing else. If SUF wishes to invoke some special form of favouritism from the DME then they are misguided. Nothing can be further from the truth.

If anyone wishes to invest in SUF, or any other company then it is their own choice. Confluence and the like are no doubt loyal investors with SUF and I commend them for this. If they believe that there is a buck to be made, then good for them.

For myself,...I would be quite happy to see this M1 issue resolved and all can carry on with business as usual.

Regards
