no way,, how many people carry a 1 million mortgage. its a tax gimmick for itemized deductions. i have no problem limiting mortgage deductions , some cuts are necessary to pay off this debt. this impact is minimal. they are not talking about doing away with the deduction just lowering the cap. now if they also cut out home equity loans i can see that hurting not only housing but other industries like purchase of cars etc.
