(LU) 85 15/16 -2 1/16: share of telecommunications equipment maker are trading lower today on rumors that company might pre-announce an earnings shortfall for the December period; while some Wall Street firms believe everything is fine with LU's fiscal Q1 performance, some suspect that LU could pre-announce a shortfall as early as this afternoon; investors should keep in mind that the quarter is back-end loaded and that LU can easily make-up any shortfall in the last two weeks of the period; nonetheless, concerns over earnings are putting pressure on the stock today; according to Zacks, LU is projected to earn $0.96 a share..... FWIW a very ST cheap and RISKY way to play LU for a tanking today is the NOV 85 puts (currently about 1/4). Upside is if stocks tanks this afternoon some good cash could be made; downside is that it is most likely that stock will close about 85 and you will lose your entire 'investment'.
