Iran and North Korea used the opportunity to fast-track their nuclear programs -- they can do this without fear because they know we are completely bogged down in Iraq. They also know that having nuclear weapons provides them with protection that Saddam lacked. So while we eliminated a threat that did not exist, we enabled real threats to grow far more serious.

As for Iraq, the threat comes from the process we started -- a process that is on the road to a complete meltdown of the region. This meltdown is exactly what the terrorists have waned all along. This meltdown gives them strength, and the hope that they can prevail as the governments in the region are destroyed one by one.
