People are very avid about their reenactments. It gives them something to do. I'm not sure I'm in for war reenactments, but near my house is a the first outpost of the Hudson's Bay Company in my state. It was active for a generation in the fur trade. Every year they have an encampment where people get dressed up in period costumes and practice period skills. The period was 1806-1825. I might get involved with that, if the time ever comes my way. Unlike most of the reenactors, I actually participated in the fur trade myself, about fifty years ago.
