Hey Winnie the Whiner, I found a couple more interesting things about that Intel C++ compile you claim is useless for anything other than SPEC:

developer.intel.com

"We were very impressed with the huge performance gains when we switched from our compiler to the Intel C++ Compiler"

And this one:

developer.intel.com

"A less obvious, but very important advantage of the Intel C++ Compiler, is its almost complete ANSI C++ compliance, added Dr. Zuiderveld. "We are using templates quite a lot; Intel's product happily compiles our code, as well as external C++ libraries relying on advanced template support."
