If we're going to value academic achievement, intellectual curiosity and distinguished scholarship as essential attributes of SC justices, then Miers clearly does not measure up. Even O'Connor, who hasn't been viewed as one of the court's intellectual heavy weights, graduated #3 in her class from Stanford.

That's not to say that Miers is not bright or productive. It just means that academically she's not in a league with the other eight justices.
