Dennis: Looks like Texas Instruments will need a license from Qualcomm for any commercial chip production of any form of CDMA.

Even the example of Intel buying DSP is instructive. Intel needed a new license from Qualcomm even though DSP had one, so buying a small current licensee does not bypass the need to negotiate directly with Qualcomm.

The only way Texas Instruments could avoid a Qualcomm license for WCDMA would be a "work around" the Q's IPR, and every indication we have is that is not a practical option.

So at some point this year or next Texas Instruments will need to get Qualcomm's approval for a chipset license, or there will be no Texas Instruments CDMA chipsets.

Best.
