Electric Cars for 'Petrol Heads' Or should that be 'Electric Heads'? Check this out from the Lightning Car Company not only is this car environmentally friendly it is also fast and it looks amazing. The top speed is rated at 209kmph (130mph) and it can reach 100kmph (60mph) in 4 seconds. It is driven by 4 x 120Kw electric motors putting out a total of 700bhp. There are no figures for the driving range on a full charge but you simply plug it into your home power outlet to boost the batteries. One feature that is interesting is the 'programmable external engine sound generator' which I assume gives you something like a V8 sound rather than the whine of electric motors. No word on price but the car will be available from next year so get your order in now. geekzone.co.nz
