I think Art Rosenberg is Great. Especially for the gaming business. I only play one stock in the same sector. I am sure that the principles in Glow know of Art. He has fought for internet gambling for years. The new ISA group will primarily consist of companies that are interested in gaming and gaming applications in the burgeoning market for interactive services. The council is developing a proposed set of operating practices and ethical guidelines for companies planning to participate in the interactive gaming and wagering market.
"Interactive gaming services are proliferating in electronic media including the Internet, in-flight, cable TV, telephone and satellite. The time has come to organize those interested in growing and proactively shaping this fledgling industry," said Sue Schneider, chair of the new council. "This council will have an international reach, and provide a much-needed forum for responsible companies in the interactive gaming area to gather together and discuss important issues." Schneider is CEO of RGT OnLine, Inc. which publishes two electronic gaming publications, Rolling Good Times OnLine and Interactive Gaming News.
Schneider described the council's mission:
To provide a forum for reputable companies to address issues and advance common interests in the global interactive gaming industry;
To establish fair and responsible trade guidelines and practices that enhance consumer confidence in interactive gaming products and services, and;
To serve as the industry's public policy advocate and information clearinghouse.
Albert J. Angel, vice chair of the Interactive Gaming Council and general counsel of ICN Ltd., a Delray Beach, FL 800/900 service bureau, added: "Our group will work with government policymakers worldwide to help shape the practices and guidelines that will promote consumer confidence and create a more certain legal environment. Our Council members are proactive companies who are now joining the ISA and the inner circle of interactivity. And we're reaching out to regulators, subject matter experts and other interested parties now to begin the needed dialogue."
The council is establishing issues defined by the group as critical to the industry [The ISA WWW site will publish additional details as they become available. - DBC]. It will next meet during the ISA's Third Strategic Business Meeting in Scottsdale, Arizona on January 19, 1997. The meeting will be open to both ISA members and regulators.
