Dave, if DVD-VR were available at a reasonable price, it might give people incentives to replace old VHS with new DVD-VR which is not an option for DVD. Point is that with DVD, you need to add a $500 piece of equipment to the TV on top of what a VCR costs but with DVD-VR you are paying a premium for a premium "VCR" (not necessarily better quality soaps that you tape but better quality movies you rent or purchase). This could be a big draw at a reasonable cost. Not that DVD is a loser but I think this is a "bigger winner" if it ever can be done (1999?).
