Because of the extremely mild winter and recession, gas prices had bottomed last fall, and is now rising. I believe FST quoted its 2002 expectations based on a $2.75 price for nat gas. for the yr. A higher price should go all the way to the profit line. With the increase in elect. generation using nat. gas, I expect the old patterns to give way to a more steady yr around price. As AC usage goes up; so will reserve elec. generation, which is almost all nat. gas; using up the normal summer buildup.

I don't follow gas prices as closely as crude so I didn't realize that gas had finally put in its bottom. Oil bottomed first back in Nov./Dec. Gas just completed its bottom in Feb. To determine that, I use two indices.........XOI [oil] and XNG [gas]. To see them, click on the link below and type in XOI for the oil chart and XNG for gas.
