QUALCOMM Litigation

SMB,

<< Do you have any information on Qualcomm's litigations in early 1990's? I'd never heard of them, do you mean someone actually litigated QCOM for their early CDMA patents already before Ericsson & Co? >>

Motorola and InterDigital are two is-95 related like Ericssons '96 suit in TX. Can't remember time frames and perhaps around same time as Ericsson v. QUALCOMM. They were settled by negotiation resulting in licensing or cross licensing I believe. Like Nokia, InterDigital is collecting from some CDMA OEMS, and they are pursuing CDMA2000 licenses. IDCC shareholders can comment better than me on this.

In the nineties they really weren't overly litigious, but then again they weren't yet shielded from cross-licensing. They defended successfully against suits filed jointly by Nokia and several others in 1998 (I believe) in Europe and Japan over key CDMA patents impacting on 3G and these were settled in 2000.
