What would happen if there was a "real" war, with far more destruction? If a relatively small group of determined
terrorists can shut down the country, are we not vulnerable to an enemy with much more resources?


I guess you're making the same point as me, just from a different perspective. Yes, we are vulnerable to an enemy with much more resources.

And for that reason, we cannot look at our institutions as being pillars of strength without realizing that people with human frailties are holding those institutions aloft. Concerted effort must be expended to insure the freedoms and way of life that we cherish.
