I disagree with that, too ... part of it, but not THE reason.

Late 2000 and early 2001 -- for a subset of those companies involved in the tech bubble -- it "sank in" to the investing public that the hope of profitability was a pipe dream -- then (mid to late 2001) it became apparent that even the profitability of the biggies was in question.

This year is the fallout -- everyone knows about the profit collapse -- what they don't understand is the implications or the genesis -- bulls will probably never understand the genesis, but they will understand the implications shortly.

Willingness to lend and the demand for money are both going to hit a frigging iceberg -- not a big deal since we are on the unsinkable US Economy, until you see everyone start running to the back of the boat.

"What was that sound?"

"oh, nothing ... Some ene, mini bunch of crooks just blew themselves up ...They'll be churned under our wake. Have another drink -- drinks are on the house again tonight. What would you like?"
