HP server chip group transferred to Intel

The engineers responsible for developing server chipsets at Hewlett-Packard have been transferred to Intel under a technological alliance that could further accelerate the adoption of Intel's Itanium processor.

Under the tech industry's equivalent of a player trade in the sports world, close to 100 HP engineers have moved over to Intel to develop chipsets for future Intel-based servers, according to sources.
