<<I think that stock price is driven more by perception than reality - especially the perception of future earnings and growth. That is what pushed DELL so high in the past and that is what is holding it back now. >>

rudedog: I totally agree. Stock prices are based on future expectations. Some of the momentum money behind DELL has temporarily rotated to other places. Check out these P/Es...

DELL P/E 65
SUNW P/E 73
EMC P/E 80
QCOM P/E 278

Now, all of the above companies are growing fast and are perceived as leaders in their fields. Yet, are ANY of these companies (EMC, SUNW, or QCOM) growing sales or earnings faster than DELL..?? Last time I checked they weren't. DELL's business model is constantly being fine tuned and the company has some exciting new initiatives underway (with IBM, in the storage arena, with global premiere pages etc..). I also expect DELL's consumer group to have a record holiday season. Two of my friends that have been die hard "Mac Fanatics" over the years just ordered new DELLs. IMO, DELL's new marketing campaign is smart and its products are becoming more mainstream. Things look very good for DELL. Yet, many institutions, Funds, and individuals are ignoring this now. I expect DELL to deliver record quarterly results again. Once that happens folks may realize that DELL should command a much higher valuation. At the moment I love the company but not the stock. I'm holding my remaining shares though.

Best Regards,

Scott
