You're DEAD-ON correct! That's exactly the point. DW, IMO, doesn't want to be the Warren Buffet of the Internet. He wants to the the Bill Gates of the Internet. And given the enormity of the challenge/opportunity, that will take enormous amounts of cash. Enormous amounts.

THAT's the reason for the whole incuabte/IPO strategy. It's his plan for accumulating enough money and control to implement an Internet vision: an operating company so broad and deep that it will have the resources to implement a huge vision for the Internet. When you invest in CMGI for the long-term, you are buying a company that will be the dominant operating company of the Internet.

Isn't that the reason for CMGI Solutions, Icast, all the AD* acquisitions, AltaVista, etc.? To build an operating company...
