Those provisions make it an absolute no brainer for a young guy like yourself regarding whether to max out your IRA contributions. You get to use tax free compounded money to buy assets that everyone else has been buying with after tax savings all these years. It's a gift from your Uncle Sammy. I wish I would have had 6 years of investing experience already at your age. My Dad's retirement money is in your good hands at Putnam so good luck with that.
