Metacomet;

What has he said that causes you to believe that this is his objective and not just trying to keep the economy from sliding into a second recession/depression which will, as always, be felt more intensely by those struggling to survive?

The definition of a recession is lack of growth. To keep up growing the economy by definition means it has to be faster and more than earlier. Of course Krugman is saying he wants the economy to return to what it was during the housing boom years - I think he would agree with that statement. I'm not sure what you think he is suggesting? That we go to someplace in between what we had and now? Not me! I want a robust economy, although a different one based on other aspects of growth.
