Microsoft Pins Hopes on Holiday Pop-Up Stores

In Monday's column, I said Microsoft was making a mistake with Windows RT and that still holds.

A cynic might argue that the pop-up stores are there so that Microsoft can hit town, unload a slew of Surface
RT tablets on the unsuspecting public, then close up shop and head out. It's a funny idea, except that
unsatisfied customers can easily complain to the company.

Whatever happens, this much is for sure: these pop-up stores will prove to be a winning idea.

They are just what Microsoft needs.
