Albert, Re: One of my german friends told me that his parents were complaining once about brutality of Russian troops in 1945. It seems like they saw everything as "black and white" without shades of gray, what is your take on that?

The parent's reaction is IMO very natural since they were direct victims. However, they have to consider that Germany started the aggression against Russia in WW2 and the Russians were only taking revenge (albeit very gruesome in some cases). That's in fact a good example for "shades of grey": The Germans weren't all evil, many were just people like you and me who had to suffer the consequences the fanatic Nazi regime brought about them. The Russians on the other hand weren't all good because they also committed some war crimes (although these were driven by revenge for the war crimes Germans brought about them earlier).

How do you kill humanly 20 10-year old kids?

I don't know about the movie but I very much doubt that a court would rule that way today in Germany (in fact unresolved Nazi war crimes are still prosecuted today if new evidence is found). If the decision was made during the Nazi regime it shouldn't be too surprising.
