I don't understand Scowcroft's timing.

Other than kicking his good friend's son when is down, what earthly good does it do to bash W now? The hand has been dealt, the cards are on the table, and the results will be known. Scowcroft cannot force a re-deal of the cards, so he ought to be quiet. Everyone who matters and a lot who don't, like me, know how he feels.
